The North Korean military was recognized as the "most powerful" in the world by a Russian
minister.
Seoul: On a rare visit to the isolated nation, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Wednesday. Both parties agreed to strengthen their relations as a result of their meeting, according to state media KCNA.
According to the story, Shoigu gave Kim a letter from Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin was thanked by Kim in return, who added that the meeting had strengthened "strategic and traditional DPRK (North Korea)-Russia relations." Shoigu was leading a military delegation.
Li Hongzhongas, a member of the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party, was among the delegations from China and Russia that came in North Korea this week for "Victory Day," the country's celebration of the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean War.
The groups are the most well-known foreigners to visit North Korea since the outbreak began.
At a banquet in Pyongyang, Shoigu complimented the North Korean military as the "most powerful" in the world, according to the Korean Central Broadcasting Station (KCBS), according to news agency Yonhap.
